How to generate asset lines without assigning all invoices to an specific project or task?
Solution When assigning the assets to a single task (or project in case of project level assignment) without any asset cost allocation method, the Generate Asset Lines process will create UNASSIGNED lines. The following steps can be used:
1. Go to Setup --> Projects --> Project Types --> Capitalization
make sure that Asset cost allocation method in this screen is 'None'
2. Go to Capitalization screen, query up the project and assign each asset 'To Task' Using Asset
Assignment screen
3. Generate Asset lines
How can we remove tabs from the Projects Home Page ?
On the home we see tabs :
Tabs: Project; Resources; Workplan; Control; Financials and Reporting.
We want to disable some of these tabs.
Solution There are 2 ways to achieve this :
1. The menu 'Project Workbench Tab Structure' contains the definition of the tabs.
You can remove the tabs you do not want to use from this menu.
But they will be enabled when you apply any patch that includes the seed data
for pa_single_tab_menu.
2. Another possibility is as follows :
a. Define a new menu, which is a copy of the 'Project Workbench Tab Structure' , and modify this many according to your needs.
b. Open the template which you use to create new projects.
Go to tab Setup, and choose 'Page Layouts'
c. Enter you self defined tab menu in 'Project Workbench Tab Structure'.
d. Whenever you create a new project from this template, the new project should use your own
defined tab menu.
For existing projects, you can change the page layout for each project.
Goal- Oracle Sales can be integrated to Oracle Projects. In Oracle Sales, at Opportunity screen, there is are project fields but not enabled. How do users enable the fields?
SolutionThere is an OSO/Projects integration that is owned by Projects. Projects has a concurrent program that runs and finds opportunities that meet certain criteria. Once a matching opportunity is found, the project product creates a project from the opportunity.
The steps below need to be performed to create a project in PA from opportunity in the Sales module:
1. Create an opportunity through OSO. Add purchase items to it and provide some value. (Opportunity name say: aditi_final_opportunity)
2. Login to forms and switch to Projects, Vision Services (USA) Responsibility
3. Submit the request 'PRC: Manage Project Requests' with Run Mode parameter value as Create
Project Request, Project Request Type parameter value as Delivery.
4. Go to Projects: Operations Management Project Requests. Select the request-"Delivery <some
random no>" and create a project from it. Choose the sales template created as template and fill up all the quick entry fields.
5. Navigate to Setup page-> Pipeline. View all the opportunity related information.
6. Login to CRM Application and remove the purchase items attached to the opportunity or make
changes to the opportunity which is linked to the project.
7. Login to forms and switch to Projects, Vision Services (USA) Responsibility ,
8. Submit the request 'PRC: Manage Project Requests' with Run Mode parameter value as Update
Projects, Project Request Type parameter value as Delivery.
9. Login to self-service. Open the Project and Click on Setup Sub tab in Project Tab. Click on Pipeline
link.
Purpose This document provides delta information from Release Update Pack 6 (R12.PJ_PF.A.DELTA.6) to Oracle Project Management 12.1.1.
Scope The information included in this document assumes that you have already installed Oracle Project Management 12.1.1 according to the instructions in the following document:
Feature Name
Description New Audit Process for Project Performance Reporting Setup
Oracle Projects now includes a new concurrent audit process, AUD: Project Performance Reporting Setup. You can run this process to generate a report that enables you to review setup information for Oracle Projects project performance reporting features. This capability enables you to quickly determine if all mandatory and optional setup parameters are defined correctly. The increased visibility that this report provides helps you to ensure that your project performance reporting summarization processes function correctly and do not generate reporting errors because of improper or incomplete setup. New Parameters for Refresh Project Performance Data Process The process PRC: Refresh Project Performance Data enables you to refresh all actual and planned amount data for a group of projects. Depending on factors such as the number of projects that you specify, and the number of workplan and financial plan versions that exist on each project, the refresh process can take a substantial time to complete. To help minimize processing time and provide you with greater flexibility in selecting the actual and plan amount data you want to refresh, this process now includes additional selection parameters. You can now choose whether to refresh only actual amounts or all amounts (plan and actual). In addition, you can optionally select the workplan and financial plan versions that you want to refresh.
Workplan Usability Enhancements This release provides several enhancements for Oracle Projects workplan functionality.
Ability to Delete Published Workplan Versions You can now delete published workplan versions. You can delete all published workplan versions except the latest published version, baseline version, and workplan versions included in a program hierarchy.
Usability Enhancements The following enhancements streamline the flows for accessing and maintaining workplans:
Enhanced Automatic Calculation and Derivation Logic This release includes the following enhancements to the predefined calculation and derivation logic:
A planning transaction is a budget or forecast line that is identified by a combination of project and task, planning resource, and transaction currency. The override rates that you enter on Edit Budget and Edit Forecast pages are retained with the planning transaction for as long as the planning transaction is retained.
You can enter override rates for raw cost rate, burdened cost rate, and bill rate. When you enter override rates for a planning transaction, Oracle Projects automatically applies the override rates to all existing periodic lines and to any new periodic lines that you subsequently add.
Simplified Addition of Planning Elements and ResourcesYou can now add all new, but unbudgeted tasks and resources to a budget or forecast version. New options are available on the Planning Elements: Select Tasks page to add either all new tasks and planning resources or new tasks only to the current plan version. Self Service Expenditure Inquiry Customers could retrieve expenditure details using the Forms application but not using the self service application. In this release the customers can also retrieve expenditure details using the Financials tab in the self service application.
Reporting Pack for Generation and Distribution of XML Publisher This feature enables you to monitor project performance without accessing the application. The reporting pack consists of a set of report templates and a list of recipients. The Generate Reporting Pack concurrent program uses the report template to generate reports and distribute them to the recipients through e-mail. The reports are also archived for future references.
The report template controls the content and layout of each report. Using the XML Publisher, System Administrators can create new report templates to configure the content to meet the business needs.
Budget Integration with Federal Budget Execution and/or 3rd Party Budget You can define additional journal entries in Oracle Sublegder Accounting in Federal Budgetary entries that are required for cost accounting. You can also create entries for Budgetary Accounting for all expenditures that you have imported, entered, or adjusted in Oracle Projects. Microsoft Project 2007 Certification This feature enables Oracle Project Management to support integration with Microsoft Project 2007. This allows customers, who have upgraded their copies of Microsoft Project to Microsoft Projeect 2007, to continue using the convenient integration with Microsoft Project to handle their scheduling needs. Project Performance Reporting: Additional Measures Year to Date, Quarter to Date and At Completion calculated measures, previously available within Project Status Inquiry are now available on the following pages:
Project Performance Reporting: Inter-Project Revenue / Billing Amounts Inter project revenue/billing amounts previously available within Project Status Inquiry are now available on the following pages:

Usability Enhancements The following enhancements streamline the flows for accessing and maintaining workplans:
- You can view, maintain, and update a workplan structure from the Update Tasks page. The Update Work Breakdown Structure page is now obsolete.
- During setup and maintenance of workplan tasks, Oracle Projects now enables you to indent or outdent multiple workplan tasks in a single step.
- In the absence of a latest published workplan version, Oracle Projects now displays the current working version on the Update Tasks page when you navigate to the Workplan Tasks subtab.
- Oracle Projects now displays additional confirmation, information, and warning messages on user interface pages during system processing for the Apply Latest Progress action as well as the Submit (progress) action. These messages provide you with status information during processing and advise you about the availability of the latest progress information.
- Designate a project as a program and indicate whether projects linked to the program can belong to multiple programs
- Create links from a program to one or more projects
- Update links from a program to one or more projects
- Delete links from a program to one or more projects
Enhanced Automatic Calculation and Derivation Logic This release includes the following enhancements to the predefined calculation and derivation logic:
- You can now track cost and revenue amounts only, or revenue amounts only (without quantities and rates) in your budgets and forecasts. When you enter an amount for a plan line and do not specify a quantity, Oracle Projects no longer automatically copies the amount to the quantity field and sets the rate value to 1.
- Rate now has a lower priority than quantity and amount in calculations. For example, if you enter quantity, rate, and amount for a plan line at the same time, then Oracle Projects holds the quantity and amount constant and re-derives the rate.
- If you indirectly override the burden multiplier for a plan line by updating one of the plan line component amounts that are used to derive burdened cost (for example, the raw cost or burden cost rate), then Oracle Projects uses the override burden multiplier in subsequent calculations of burdened cost that are caused by changes to the raw cost. Similarly, if you indirectly override a markup percent by updating a plan line component amount that is used to derive the revenue amount, then Oracle Projects uses the override markup percent in subsequent revenue calculations.
